"Our goal is to enable users to locate and obtain access to Earth science data sets and services relevant to global change and Earth science research. The GCMD database holds more than 30,000 descriptions of Earth science data sets, services and ancillary descriptions covering all aspects of Earth and environmental sciences."

The International Shark Attack File is a compilation of all known shark attacks going back nearly sixty years that is administered by the Florida Museum of Natural History and the American Elasmobranch Society, a professional organization comprised of international workers studying sharks, skates and rays.

"SEDAC’s mission is to develop and operate applications that support the integration of socioeconomic and earth science data and to serve as an “information gateway” between the earth sciences and social sciences."

Broad categories are education, federal government, industry, international, research and development (R&D), social dimensions, state, and workforce. The National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics (NCSES) is part of the NSF.
